Rides
Double Mountain Trail Ride
Depart: ECVA: 7:30am
Stage Area : 60 Miles
Ride Length : 60 - 65 miles
This trail ride will take us through the Hight Desert of Northern Elko County on the east side of Double Mountain through canyons and
ravines east towards Stag Mountain then south to the Devils Armchair to Beaver Creek the back north along base of Double Mountain to
staging area. Antelope, deer, elk, can be seen on this ride.
South Ruby Mountain Trail Ride
Depart ECVA : 8:00am
Stage Area : 52 Miles south of Elko at Lindsey Creek Ranch and 15 miles south of the ranching community of Jiggs.
Ride Length : 65 - 70 miles
This trail ride takes you along the western slopes of the Ruby Mountain range from Lindsey Creek Ranch to Overland Pass at the south
end of the Ruby Mountains at elevations from the valley floor up to 8000ft. You will have spectacular views of Huntington Valley, Diamond
Mountain Range, through Pinion Pine, Mountain Mahogany and Juniper forests. We will also travel through Wildhorse territory along the
Pony Express National Historic Trail and along the Hasting Cutoff of the California National Historic Trail. This trail ride will be about 65 to
70 miles long.
North Country Trail Ride
Depart ECVA : 7:00am
Stage Area : Gold Creek Road, turn off at Wildhorse Reservoir 65 miles north of Elko on Hwy 225
Ride Length : 75 - 80 miles
This trail ride will take us from 6500ft at Wildhorse Reservoir through Poorman Creek to Sunflower Reservoir. Then we"ll travel over
Waterlog Summit into Meadow Creek Canyon down through the narrows coming out at Coffee Pot Rim and down to the Bruneau River at
about 4500ft. We will leave the river and head to the old Rowland Townsite and turn back at the Old Scott Ranch and follow McDonald
Creek up through the canyon past Mustang Butte to the main McDonald Creek Road on the north side of Merritt Mountain. Turn off at Cat
Creek Basin and go over the summit just over 7000ft. During this ride you should see Antelope, Mule Deer, Elk and lots of wildflowers in
bloom. We'll then travel from the summit through a beautiful Aspen forest in Sagehen Basin to Point of Rocks and back to the staging
area. This ride is about 75-80 miles.
Merritt Mountain Trail Ride
Depart ECVA : 730am
Stage Area : Gold Creek Road, turn off at Wildhorse Reservoir 65 miles north of Elko on Hwy 225.
Ride Length : 70 miles
This trail ride will leave staging area and take the Gold Creek road east through the Mendive Ranch which is still in operation by Ellison
Ranching. A few miles past the ranch we"ll stop at the historic marker for the old mining Townsite of Gold Creek. Travel to the Gold Creek
Ranger Station on Martin Creek, up the canyon and east to Tennessee Mountain and then to the Hicks Summit road. Then travel down
from the summit to the Meadow Creek Road above the narrows, down through the narrows to the Taylor Creek Road turn off. We"ll take
the Taylor Creek Road to the McDonald Creek road and Cowboy Camp at the head of Sand Creek at the base of Enright Hill. The wildlife
and wildflowers are abundant in these areas so don't forget your camera. We will then travel up Enright Hill and to the top
of Merritt Mountain at almost 9000 ft., the Jarbidge Mountain can be seen to the east, the Oywhee Desert to the north, the Santa Rosa
Mountains to the west and the Ruby Mountains and East Humboldt Mountains to the south. Upon leaving Merritt Mountain we'll travel
through a few pretty canyons (Pixley Creek and Negro George Canyon) back to the Point of Rocks and back to the staging area. This ride
will be about 70 miles.
2011 Elko ATV Jamboree Overnight Ride
For the more adventurous riders.
20 people max per ride. Rides will leave Mon. and Thurs. 7:00 am
Day 1 – 50 mi. + -
Depart ECVA : 7:00am
Stage Area : Gold Creek Road, turn off at Wildhorse Reservoir 65 miles north of Elko on Hwy 225
Everyone is responsible for their own extra gas, sleeping arrangements pack on ATV, lunches and snacks.
Bring your GPS Units because we will be doing some Geocaching for prices along the way.

drinks, dinner and gather around the camp fire. If beer or soft drinks are not your beverage of choice you can bring your own but will have to
wait until camp to drink it.
Day 2 – 42 mi. + -
After a hardly breakfast we will head to Merritt Mountain past Enright Hill and turn down Sand Creek. We will head South for a ways on
McDonald Creek road and then cut East over to Meadow Creek road. Here we will go North to Tennell Creek Road and over the top of
Tennessee Mountain. From the top we will head to Martin Creek and head North on Gold Creek Road. We will hit the Sunflower Flat Road
and head to Point of Rocks. From there it is about nine miles back to the staging area.

SPRUCE MOUNTAIN TRAIL RIDE
Depart ECVA: 7:00 am each day
Stage Area: 86 Miles from Elko
Ride Length: 70 miles
This trail ride takes us through the historic Spruce Mining district on Spruce Mountain. We will travel past the remains of the Sprucemont
Post Office at the Sprucemont Town site 1860 to 1890. Next stop is the Monarch Mine and Town site, past the oldest building on the
mountain built in 1850 the Latham Boarding house. Then we will drop into the Black Forest Canyon and the Black Forest Mine., out the
bottom of the canyon to Independence Valley we will head up 9 mile canyon, this part of the trail will take us to the top of the Pequop
Mountains heading north on the spine of the Mountain range through Mahogany forests and Pine forests, travel down another canyon back
to Independence Valley, heading north again travel to the Hogan Tunnel, its a 11/4 mile railroad tunnel through the Pequop Mountain range.
On the top of the Hogan Tunnel is Flower Pass we will head west across Independence Valley climbing over Spruce Mountain Ridge and
back to the staging area. This ride will be about 70 miles in length, Elk, antelope, mule deer and wild mustangs can be seen on this ride, a
camera is a must.
JARBIDGE TRAIL RIDE ON SATURDAY ONLY
Depart ECVA: 7:00am
Stage Area: 62 miles north of Elko on Hwy 225 at the Charleston Turn off.
Ride Length: 100 - 160 miles DEPENDS ON ROAD & WEATHER CONDITIONS ,
(ROUTE MAY CHANGE SLIGHTLY FROM DESCRIPTION)
This trail ride will be utilizing a good portion of county road from the staging area to the town of Jarbidge in northern Elko County. Along the
way we will travel past old cattle ranches, through open valleys and rolling hills before we start the climb into the Jarbidge Mountain
Range near the old town of Charleston. At Charleston we will take the 76 Creek Road climbing in elevation to Copper Basin. This area is
rich in mining, ranching and Basque history. While in Copper Basin we will take a short loop to the USFS 76 Cabin. Once back to the main
road we'll travel to Coon Creek Summit, the mountain and valley views are spectacular. Departing Coon Creek we will take the lower road
down through the bottom of the canyon coming out on Bear Creek Summit then back on to the main road to Jarbidge through Bear Creek
Meadows and down the grade into Jarbidge Canyon at the south end of town. Old mines and mine mill buildings can be seen coming
down the grade to town. While in town will be having lunch at the Outdoor Inn so don't forget your lunch money. The town of Jarbidge
celebrated its 100 year centennial in August 2009 with a 3 day celebration. After lunch time has been allotted to take a tour of this historic
old mining town, community hall, jail, old homes and the general store. Gas is available at the gas station. This ride will be about 100
miles round trip, it is a very easy ride. Bring your camera.
